What is Rapid Prototyping?

This early model is called a “prototype”, which is continuously improved and iterated until the final correct version is obtained.

All rapid prototyping begins with digital models, and 3D printing is usually the preferred method for rapid prototyping because 3D printed prototypes are affordable, typically within a few tens of dollars, and can be obtained within 3 days. Other common rapid prototyping processes include CNC machining, vacuum casting, and sheet metal fabrication.
