Why Do We Do Surface Finish?

During the manufacturing process of parts, removing the surface of the block to create the desired shape will leave visible tool marks.Surface finishing can improve the appearance of parts, enhance corrosion resistance, enhance wear resistance, ensure dimensional accuracy, endow functionality, enhance safety, and enhance cleanliness and hygiene.

Our Surface Finishing Options

Whether it’s metal or plastic CNC parts. When cooperating with BOONA, we guarantee that all parts will be manufactured according to your specifications.

NameDescriptionMaterialsColorTexture

阳极氧化

Anodizing

After anodizing treatment, a dense oxide film is formed on the surface of the aluminum metal, which improves the corrosion resistance, enhances wear resistance and hardness of the parts, and protects the metal surface.

Aluminum

Clear, black, grey, red, blue, gold

Tool marks visible, Smooth, Matt & Gloss

Polishing

Polishing

Polishing can fill surface pores, scratches, and other surface defects, thereby increasing fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance, in order to obtain parts with a bright and flat surface.

Metals

N/A

Smooth and glossy, enhanced cosmetic appearance

Black Oxide

Black Oxide

Black oxide is a conversion coating. This treatment is similar to Alodine, but mainly used to improve the appearance of the metal and provide slight corrosion resistance.

Stainless steel, Alloy steel, Tool steel, Mild steel

Black

Smooth, matte black

Bead Blasting

Bead Blasting

Bead blasting can be used to achieve a range of surface finishes. It can be used to create a textured matte appearance, effectively removing rust, paint, and other pollutants.

Metals

N/A

Matte

Powder Coating

Powder Coating

This process utilizes the principle of corona discharge to apply a powder coating to the surface of the parts, forming a layer of coating that is firmly adhered and forms a wear-resistant barrier. Improve the durability and service life of parts.

Metals

Colors can be matched as needed

Gloss or semi-gloss

As Machined

As Machined

The “as-machined” finish, our standard surface preparation for parts. This finish not only ensures the elimination of sharp edges but also provides a thorough and clean deburring of the parts.

Metals & Plastics

N/A

Stain, tool marks visible

Electroless Nickel Plating

Electroless Nickel Plating

Chemical nickel plating is a surface treatment that is wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant. The hardness of the chemically plated nickel layer after heat treatment can reach Hv1100.

Metals

N/A

Smooth, semi bright

Brushing

Brushing

The brush is applied with a suitable force and angle to the surface, removing any imperfections, burrs, or rough edges while creating a consistent and uniform satin finish.

Metals & Plastics

N/A

Matt, gloss, texture

Standard Post-Processing

By adhering to these strict post-processing and protection standards, we ensure that our products are always delivered in excellent condition, providing the best solutions for our customers.

Edge Breaking & Deburring

  1. Deburring is mandatory for all parts.
  2. Standard process: deburring + breaking sharp edges (chamfering).
  3. No secondary burrs allowed.
  4. Chamfer size: 0.25mm ± 0.125mm.
  5. Chamfering should be done during machining; if not possible, manual tools may be used.

Non-Standard Deburring Options

For special requirements, we offer non-standard deburring options, which will be specified in the quotation and purchase order. The two most common options include:

  • Deburring + Keeping Sharp Edges (for applications that require precise sharp edges).
  • Deburring + Rounded Edges (for applications that require smoother edges).

Cleaning & Protection

For non-corrosive materials (such as aluminum and stainless steel), all parts must be thoroughly cleaned after machining and finishing to remove grease and residues.

No cutting fluid films, chips, or cutting fluid marks should be present on the part’s surface.

Corrosive materials (e.g., Carbon Steel, Brass, Copper, etc.), parts should be immersed in ITW RP 631 rust prevention oil or an equivalent product. This oil complies with RoHS standards and forms a thick, dry protective layer to prevent corrosion.

All parts should be wrapped with VCI paper (anti-rust paper) or silver protective paper for additional protection.

These materials should be wrapped in silver protective paper or vacuum-sealed in dry packaging to minimize oxidation risks.

Appearance Parts Requirements

BOONA provides industrial standard metal and plastic material processing quotations. If you have custom material requirements, please send your request to [email protected] for evaluation by our engineers.

“Appearance parts” differ from “non-appearance parts.” If a part is considered an “appearance part,” it will be specified in the purchase order.

Main Standards for Appearance Parts

  1. No visible machining marks. Even if secondary surface treatments (such as sandblasting) are applied, non-appearance parts may still have visible machining marks.
  2. No visible scratches, dents, stains, or defects on the main or external surfaces (referred to as the “A” surface).
  3. Consistency across the batch: Parts within a batch must look nearly identical in appearance.
  4. 100% visual inspection of all appearance parts to ensure compliance with the requirements.
